Simple but Practical…Good for Office Bedroom or Kids’ Rooms Pros: Smaller size programmable cd changer cd exchange plays CD-R’s bass boost decent soundCons: Limited remote sound can’t be changed much dial tuner for the radioThe Bottom Line: Recommend for the office or kids’ rooms. Don’t recommend if you need a unit with RCA jacks because there aren’t any. Decent unit for the price I paid. I came across this stereo while browsing a local garage sale. I had been looking for a simple no frills stereo for a while and this one seemed perfect. While it was not new in the box the unit appeared to have not be used. The speakers were not hooked up and the wires were not only still wrapped up they appeared they had never been undone and used. The wire antenna was in the same condition. I noticed immediately that there were no RCA inputs but I did not need a unit with those. If you are looking for a stereo with those this isn’t it. This is more designed for the bedroom kids’ bedroom or office. The unit has a 6 cd changer as its name states. There is also a single cassette deck and AM/FM tuner with FM stereo. As for audio features the only two amplifications or way to change the sound are a simple “bass boost” button as well as a “surround sound” button. The bass boost adds more bass but the surround sound doesn’t seem to make much of a difference. There is also a headphone jack which is something that will probably never be used. The cd changer offers most of the standard features that modern cd players have. It has repeat repeat all random repeat all cd’s and you can also program the cd’s so you won’t have to hear those awful filler tracks. The cd player also plays CD-R’s and plays them quite well. I have not attempted to play any CD-RW’s but they would likely play. A really neat feature is that you can let one cd play while you open the cd changer and change out the other discs. This is due to the “double-decker” design of the changer which fits three cds on the bottom deck and three cd’s on the top deck. The cassette deck appears to be a standard audio cassette deck. I really can’t say much for that feature because I don’t have any cassettes. The AM/FM tuner works well. The antenna is the wire kind so for one station I listen t it I have to extend it and tape it to the well so the station comes in clear. When a station is being received in FM stereo a little red light illuminates. The tuner is disappointingly a dial tuner especially considering how digital everything else is. The stereo also came with a remote but the remote is limited. The remote can basically only be used to control the cd changer control the volume and turn the unit on and off. As mentioned before the tuner is controlled by a dial so you cannot change the radio stations with the remote. The speakers are contemporarily stylish and have four inch woofers along with the smaller tweeters. Not having the box I am unsure of what the speaker wattage is. The speakers are detached so other ones can easily be hooked up to the unit. Overall the unit is attractive. The sound it delivers is pretty clear for a unit of its size and simplicity. It’s not 5.1 or even 2.1 but cd’s do sound pretty good especially if you aren’t an audio buff. Previously having used my older computer for my stereo it is nice to have the ease and convenience of just turning on the stereo to listen to music rather than opening programs which sometimes freeze up.
